Firewood Facts
Split Firewood will cure enough to burn hot in six to eight months. If you cut hardwood in the late fall through winter, it will dry faster because it has a lower moisture content in the dormant season to prevent freezing temps from killing the tree. Birch, Beech, and fruit tree wood has a higher oil content, and will dry more slowly. One year is optimal, especially if you don't split the larger sticks.
